Treat Yourself This Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Although many consider Valentine’s Day a dreaded holiday, I’ve always enjoyed it. Valentine’s Day is the day of love and you can take that how you will. I personally never considered Valentine’s Day to be an exclusive holiday to romantic relationships, but a day just dedicated to love; love for your S/O, love for your friends and family, and love for yourself. I typically buy a nice treat for all of my closest loved ones and use the day as to spread love. I also make sure to treat myself every Valentine’s Day, whether I have a valentine that year to spend the day with or not. On the day of love, it’s important to love yourself as you are, single or taken. Treat yourself this Valentine’s Day, and make sure you give yourself some extra love.

If you don’t have any big Valentine’s Day plans, take the day to pamper yourself. Buy a bath bomb and take a warm bath. Spray some essential oils. Give yourself a face mask. Find time to relax and spend the day doing things you enjoy, but you typically can’t find the time to do. Even if a spa day isn’t your thing, lounge around and watch movies and eat ice cream, or spend the night journaling your thoughts away. Do whatever will bring you joy and comfort.

Buy yourself a little gift. You don’t need to go crazy, but buy yourself some candy or that pair of shoes you’ve been dying for. While your out buying treats for your S/O or your loved ones, treat yourself too! It’s alright to indulge every once in awhile. Buy yourself a pretty heart shaped box of chocolates before they’re gone!

Take the day off from work. We all need a break every once in awhile. If the thought of Valentine’s Day stresses you out, or if you just want to spend the day with someone you love, or even alone, give yourself a break. Take a day to soak in some love for yourself. Make a big breakfast you normally wouldn’t have time for in the morning, and take yourself out shopping while there’s no crowd at the mall. Allow yourself the whole day to be relieved of any stress or worries, and instead focus simply on the feeling of love.

Remember in order to receive love, you must give love. Tell your loved ones how much you love them, but also give yourself a mental hug (and maybe some chocolates) and don’t forget to love yourself too. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day!
