I have yet to find a cure-all under eye product. No cream, potion, or treatment has completely depleted my dark circles or smoothed out my fine lines. However, I’ve been experimenting with under eye creams for years and years, as puffy eyes are something I’ve always struggled with. I’ve tried the expensive stuff that typically isn’t worth the hype, and I’ve tried cheap drug store products that have had shocking results. Although I have yet to find an eye cream to fix all of my under eye issues, I have found some that are effective in reducing early morning puffiness and that moisturizes the skin to provide the perfect base for my concealer. I’m still always looking to try new under eye products in hopes to find a holy grail product, but in the mean time, here are 5 relatively affordable products that are worth trying out.
What I love about this eye cream is that it has a slight peachy tint that instantly brightens the under eyes. It’s almost like having a corrector underneath of your concealer to help lighten the appearance of dark circles. If you don’t have bad darkness, you might even feel comfortable wearing just this product alone! It might not have long-term effects, but it’s a great trick to give yourself a brighter appearance in the morning. Remember a little goes a long way!
I’ve always heard Vitamin K is the best way to eliminate under eye circles which is why I am now using this product every morning. Although I haven’t found any noticeable differences in my appearance, I enjoy this cream because it sits well underneath my makeup and feels very nourishing on the skin. Some other aspects I enjoy about this product is that it is cruelty and paraben free. I love that the products are all natural and really enjoy how hydrating this cream is.
For a retinol, this eye cream is surprising moisturizing. I used this twice a day for over 6 months and was stunned by how a teeny tiny tube managed to last me that long. Although there weren’t any extreme visible effects aside from maybe ever so slightly diminishing darkness, this product, for it’s affordable price, is way better than some of the pricier products on the market. This product did a great job at filling in my fine lines, making my concealer application look much smoother.
Honestly, I don’t think the brand actually matters much, but I’d recommend for anyone and everyone to buy an ice roller. They’re super affordable and a great tool for those mornings you wake up tired or with irritated, puffy eyes. It feels great, and you can use it all over your face! When you need a quick fix, this product can be a life saver. Of course, cold spoons or chilled tea bags can also bring the same effect for a little less.
Easily, First Aid Beauty has created one of my favorite products, although it’s a bit on the pricier side. Like the ice roller, this product provides a stainless steel tip that instantly chills the under eyes, eliminating puffiness. I always keep mine in the fridge to maximize effects. The eye cream itself also contains slight pigment, similar to the Origins cream, that acts as a corrector to eliminate darkness. If your darkness is minimal, you might find this to be the only product you need to depuff and conceal.
I’m still on the hunt for the perfect product, but have found happiness with the products listed above. If you can only buy one, I’d recommend investing in the First Aid Beauty cream, as it combines some of my favorite aspects of the other products into one. As I try more creams, I’ll be sure to make a list of anymore great discoveries I find and maybe even a separate list of ones not worth the money (aka DermalMD). In the meantime, if you have any recommendations, I’d love to hear them!
